The Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) has been established by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under the "Microcredit Regulatory Authority Act 2006” to promote and foster sustainable development of microfinance sector through creating an enabling environment for NGO-MFIs in Bangladesh. MRA is the central body to monitor and supervise microfinance operations of NGO-MFIs. License from the Authority is mandatory to operate microfinance operations in Bangladesh as an NGO.

A Four Member ADB Delegates Visited MRA 


A four  member delegation from Private Sector Operations Department of The Asian development Bank (ADB) met the high officials of Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) on April 4, 2017. Mr. Md. Ali Noor , Director (Additional Secretary) of MRA presided over the meeting. ADB  expressed their interest to launch the Regional Microfinance Risk participation  Guarantee program in Bangladesh. Under this program they will provide 50% of risk coverage for primary financing institutions for the sake of Microfinance Institutions of Bangladesh.  During their  visit to MRA a presentation on Microfinance, MRA rules and regulations, Market share  of MFIs  and other related issues  were explained for their better understanding. The delegation was pleased  to  share their views on microfinance activities of Bangladesh and gave thanks to MRA for full Cooperation. 

 The Liberian Delegates Visited MRA 


 A six members team of  delegate from The Central Bank of Liberia and Ministry of Finance met with the high officials of Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) on March 29, 2017. Mr. Mohammad Abdul Haque, Director of MRA presided over the meeting. The Deputy Directors of MRA Mr. Mohammad Yakub Hossain, Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman & Mr. Muhammad Shahidul Islam shared their views with the team while Senior Assistant Director of MRA, Ms. Jinat Aman Banna delivered a brief presentation on microfinance, licensing framework and prudential regulations of microfinance in Bangladesh. The team showed keen interest to know about the regulatory framework, way of monitoring and present situation of our microfinance sector.
